Our way of giving back to our people
We’re going through extraordinary and challenging times. The ongoing COVID-19 outbreak is having an impact on all of us, and as a mother of two children, I am right there with all of our Farfetchers trying to navigate this new world of home and life all blended into one.  Now, more than ever, our first priority at Farfetch is the health and well-being of our people - considering everyone’s individual circumstances that range from caring for themselves, loved ones, friends or neighbours. As a People Team, our mission has always been the creation of a "Happy People Revolution” and in these exceptional circumstances, we have needed to be even more thoughtful about the happiness and safety of our global community. 

I am proud to say that we have always put our people at the heart and centre of everything we do. We have a focus on well-being and supporting Farfetchers to achieve a healthy work-life balance through a range of global initiatives. To name just a few examples; we have always been open to flexible working opportunities, we launched a sabbatical program called Boomerang in 2019 to recognise our people’s commitment and contribution to the Farfetch mission, and we have evolved our well-being strategy by giving all Farfetchers access to Unmind - a mental health platform offering tools and resources to support with mental well-being. 

In light of the evolving situation, we are being true to our values and introducing new initiatives to support our people, helping to balance and manage the daily challenges we are all facing.

Since day one of the outbreak, we have followed the government and World Health Organization guidelines in every region where we operate to ensure the safety of our people and the wider community. We have regularly updated Farfetchers through various communication channels to ensure that everyone feels involved and informed during these uncertain times. Our Executive team have been sharing stories from their homes via video updates on Workplace, and hosting weekly live Q&A sessions to answer any question our people may have - staying connected and close to all of our Farfetchers is one of the most important priorities for us right now.   

Now that the majority of Farfetchers are working remotely from home, we have introduced resources to make this a positive and successful experience for everyone. Our newly created Working From Home & Well-Being project group are a dedicated team of cross-functional Farfetchers who have come together to share tips and experiences to support our people to work remotely during this time. 

Most recently, we have introduced Caring Days. As part of our Positively Farfetch mission to become the global platform for good in luxury fashion, we offer Giveback Days - two paid volunteering days per year where Farfetchers can support a social cause of their choice. In the spirit of Positively Farfetch, now is the time for us to give back to our people. During the COVID-19 outbreak, Farfetchers can switch their Giveback Days for Caring Days, taking some time to look after themselves, their loved ones or their community.

By staying so connected to our people, we have been blown away by the support our people are providing to each other - seeing messages, videos, virtual meet-ups and the team spirit of our Farfetchers caring for each other during this time is so heartfelt!  Despite all the challenges we are facing, our people remain committed to our mission of doing what’s never been done, with a positive and human approach. Proving, once again, that we are capable of doing brilliant things when we work together and live our #TodosJuntos value. I’m certain that we will come out of this even stronger and more united.
